About Us

Summerlove Shetland Sheepdogs is a small hobby kennel located in Florida. Our dogs live in the house, sleep on the bed and patrol the back yard. They are truly a part of our family. We believe that Shelties are multi talented and show them in the agility, obedience and conformation rings.

Lorrie acquired her first Sheltie (Cassie) in 1986 and quickly fell in love with the breed. Two years later Niki came along and Lorrie began showing her in the obedience ring. That led to the agility ring and eventually to the conformation ring. Lorrie is a member of the Tampa Bay Area Shetland Sheepdog Club, the Dog Training Club of St. Petersburg, the St. Petersburg Dog Fanciers Association, and the American Shetland Sheepdog Association.

April Dunford got her first Sheltie in 1989. She named him Bandit, because he had stolen her heart! One day April and Bandit went to watch a local dog show exhibition -- the rest is history! She was hooked on obedience and especially on Shelties! April was very competitive in the agility, obedience, herding and conformation show rings. She loved training the dogs, grooming them and showing them. Sadly, April passed away on March 11, 2016. She will be missed by all of those who knew her.
